About the Brand: The Rogerie believes that manufacturing can be done differently. They use no new materials, only 100% recycled plastic from verified waste streams. Their products are produced using 100% renewable energy, as their facility is powered completely by renewable energy sources, making them a net-zero carbon producer. In addition, their operation is streamlined to use minimal ground shipping and no overseas shipping for their products, which is a significant source of carbon emissions for traditional manufacturers. They also offer full-circle recycling services as any plastic returned to them will be processed and turned into new products. Their mission is simple: make plastic sustainable. They actively improve their processes on a daily basis and are constantly searching for new ways to reduce their environmental impact.
They do not use mixed plastic or create proprietary plastic blends, unlike many companies who advertising eco-friendly plastic products, due to the fact that mixed plastics (i.e., not #1-7) cannot be identified or processed by recycling facilities and must be thrown out. They do not use any overseas outsourcing so their products are made as close to their destination as possible in order to minimize shipping. They use local suppliers, with 96% of their recycled material being sourced from within Canada, and increasingly from nearby cities. They also use waste-free manufacturing technology so that unlike most plastic producers, their additive manufacturing methods generate no waste material during production.
"The design process doesn't start with a drawing or end when we ship a final product. Great design - sustainable design - means taking responsibility for what we produce, from the time raw materials are taken from the earth to the time they return to it. We have to account for where our plastic waste comes from, how it’s transported, how it’s processed, where it’s going, and how we’re going to manage it for the next 400 years. Anything less than that isn’t going to fix the problem." - Brady (Co-founder)
